2005 FIRST Robotics Competition

CompetitionWelcome to the official web site of the Robowranglers, a robotics team comprised of students and teachers from Greenville High School and engineers from L-3 Communications Integrated Systems.  Each year through the FIRST Robotics Competition, L-3 volunteer engineers, high school students, and members from the community partner together to build a robot in a time period of six weeks.  Through this building process, engineers mentor students in brainstorming, prototyping, design, and creation of the robot and its functions.  Students work at L-3 each night to create and build the various parts needed for the robot.  This enables the students to take classroom concepts from the math and science fields and apply them to a real world situation.

Team PhotoThis year team 148 is being coached by Greenville High School instructors Vanessa Pope and Terri Galloway, and New Horizons Learning Center instructor Johnny Tharp.  Seniors on the team include Beth McClellen, Matt Mahrer, Sarah Wright, Drew Roberts, Brian Wight, Justin Griggs, and Lizzy Wisdom.  Joining juniors Jason Maxwell, Kevin Morris, Megan Wineinger, Michael Risley, Phillip Stromberg, Peter Chung, and Amanda Isham are sophomores Nathan Follett, Justin Tharp, and Lane Gould.  Also on the team is freshman Logan Marcum.

Engineers volunteering from L-3 Communications Integrated Systems are Chris Follett, John Hodapp, Monty Wineinger, Steve Maxwell, Casey Welch, Adam Davies, Adam Reppond, and Gabe Cook.  Also mentoring from Sierra Nevada Corporation is Brad Marcum.

Summer Season
June 2005

Class of 2005Briefly, I wanted to thank everyone, again, for a fantastic robotics season.  We have built such an outstanding foundation this year for success, that we can only exceed all expectations in the 2005-2006 school year.  I have said many times this year, our seniors set a standard for everyone to follow and I know they have left a legacy of success for the next group to achieve.  Congratulations, to the Class of 2005 and thank you for your hard work and dedication.  Read more.

Please watch the Coaches Corner for more of our students' achievements.  We have taken the liberty of using this special part of the web site to brag on our students and let them know we are very proud of them and their hard work.  For past words of praise, click here.
