1996-1997 Robot

Sponsored by Raytheon E-Systems and Greenville ISD, 25 students and 11 engineers followed the objective to design and build a robot able to drive across a playing field, pick up tubes and place them on a 9 foot goal for the 1997 FIRST Robotics Competition, "Torroid Terror."  Team Greenville did exceptionally well, walking away with 3rd place and with the Proctor and Gamble Creativity Award at the Motorola Midwest Regional in Chicago.  Moving on to nationals in Florida, competing against 130 other teams, Team Greenville returned home as a Chairman's Award Finalist, with the WPI scholarship and the Outstanding Defense award.
